Space battles, rarely realistic in movies or TV, can be presented in detail in a book. Panelists will describe how they see war in space.
Friday 9:00 pm: Two worlds: Writing YA Fiction Vs. Writing Adult Fiction (Ends at: 9:55 pm) Rockville/ Potomac

Aside from the issues of language levels, what differences exist between writing young adults works as opposed to ones for adults?
Friday 10:00 pm: Engineers and Non-Engineers Writing SF (Ends at: 10:55 pm) Rockville/ Potomac

Some scientists and engineers shy away from writing SF because they fear they can't write well. Some liberal arts majors don't attempt SF because they don't think they know enough science. Panelists will give both types some advice to overcome their qualms.

A dinosaur expert will discuss dragons in fiction with authors, looking at the similarities and differences, exploring the theory that dragons were inspired by dinosaurs.
