Preliminary Program Grid for James Morrow

This is the Preliminary program schedule. James Morrow may or may not actually be on these items, but probably will. However, due to circumstances beyond our control, modifications to the program can occur throughout the convention.

Panelists:James Morrow, Alex Shvartsman, Michael Swanwick (M)
Saturday 12:00 pm: James Morrow Reading (Ends at: 12:25 pm) Bethesda

Author:James Morrow
Saturday 6:00 pm: War on Science (Ends at: 6:55 pm) Rockville/ Potomac
Panelists:Carolyn Ives Gilman, Inge Heyer (M), Thomas Holtz, James Morrow, Nalin A. Ratnayake
Some of America's leaders don't believe in global warming, want creationism taught in schools, and others want to ban human cloning or restrict genetic modified foods. Why this distrust of science? Is it growing? Are political leaders trying to appeal to the ignorant or do they really believe this? And what is the danger to the planet?
Sunday 10:00 am: SF/F In Translation (Ends at: 10:55 am) Suite 1209
Panelists:Jim Freund (M), James Morrow, Kathryn Morrow, Alex Shvartsman
Panelists discuss what makes a good translation. How literal does it need to be? What cultural markers do and do not translate? How does the translator capture the author's voice yet still keep the work comprehensible to an audience that doesn't speak the original language and may not be familiar with the culture in which the author lives/lived.
Sunday 12:00 pm: Political Dynamite (Ends at: 12:55 pm) Bethesda
Panelists:Sunny Moraine, James Morrow, Malka Older (M), Michael A. Ventrella
Writers and editors talk about how they address current events in their work and in social media--and what they don't.
