Silent Auction
Benefiting the John M. Ford Book Endowment Fund

Mike Ford

As many of you know, John M Ford passed from this life on September 25, 2006. He was long a vital part of the world of science fiction. Brilliant writer, mad blogger, inventive gamer, impassioned Klingon fanatic, impossibly gifted raconteur, and poet extraordinaire, he illuminated the lives of all those who knew him. We will all miss his light.

The Friends of the Minneapolis Library have established an endowment in his honor. Every $500 we raise for the Endowment Fund will allow the purchase of one new book each year. Each book purchased by the John M. Ford Endowment Fund will have a special bookplate in it, to indicate that the book has been donated to the Minneapolis Public Library in his name.

We will be holding a silent auction at CapClave with the hope of endowing at least one annual book purchase. In honor of Mike's wide interests, the auction will have books both SFnal and non, some dvds, a couple of gaming items, and a few unclassifiable items. See the list thus far.

Donations for the auction will be accepted at the convention. Tuckerization opportunities are welcome. We encourage you to give. And for those who don't have an item you consider suitable, we encourage you to bid. We will also be accepting cash donations for the fund.

Fred Ramsey is the Auction Administrator. He will have rule sheets, bid slips, bidder registrations, and donation receipts available at Capclave -- look for the Silent Auction table in the Dealers Room.
