Jeffrey Ford, World Fantasy 2005, photo by Paul Haggerty

Thoughts on Jeffrey Ford

One of the biggest surprises at Capclave 2007 is that this is Jeff Ford's first time as a Guest of Honor at a convention... ever! How can this be? He certainly is an award-winning author of note, with three World Fantasy Awards, a Nebula, the Speculative Literature Foundation's Fountain Award, the Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire and most recently an Edgar Allen Poe Award. This reflects his broad range of writing and no matter whether it is a mystery, fantasy or something just wonderfully weird, Jeff's work is full of beautiful prose and intriguing characters. When you meet Jeff, he will seem like an average guy, but don't be fooled: underneath that unassuming exterior is the mind of a literature genius.

But don't take our work on it: Jeff has kindly sent a sample of his work for you to enjoy. Dive into his "A Night in the Tropics" and learn for yourself the reason why Jeffrey Ford is one of best genre writers in the World today!

And be sure to visit Jeff at his blog; sometimes he even puts up a story!
